Good port of a fun card game: Posted by

I really haven't played the physical version of the game, only this digital one. In fact, I bought it with the intent of learning the feel of the game and letting my wife try it out with me. The down side is that it is slightly pricey for that effect, the actual game being I think around 20-30 dollars. REGARDING THE GAME ITSELF: That aside, it is a fun game and I got a lot of heavy use out of it. If you haven't played it or know the concept, frankly, I'm surprised you'd even be here, but essentially it's a deck management card game--you chose a premade deck of cards stylized as comic books for each hero and you essentially play at that hero. This differs from deck building games like Dominon or Legendary in which you are purchasing and creating a deck of cards to keep cycling through. You play against an enemy deck, it comes with four villains which have different types of cards and henchmen that also come out and attack your team. The heros have a good, consistent theme. I think the deck that establishes the "feel" of the superhero best is Tachyon (equivalent to the Flash or Quicksilver) as she really burns through her actions quickly and you can chain on her attacks if you're careful. Additional variations come from the different random environment cards which can be hostile or friendly, and do a nice job of intermittently ruining your careful plans. WITH RESPECT TO DIGITAL VERSION: That's the general game, with respect to the digital port, it is hard for me to say how faithful it is as I haven't played the physical game, however, it seems likely to please anyone who has played the original. The music is a little campy, I liken it to 1990's SNES hero music, which to me is a great choice. The computer takes care of calculating the damage modifiers and actions fairly well, making it a nice game to play even solo. I will say that the option "pick targets for me," for multiple targets always seems to default to attacking the Villain first, where usually I'd want to pick off the henchmen first but it doesn't really take away from the game. My biggest gripe would be the cost, in that I'm really looking to play it with my friends and the physical game might be better than pass and play. I'll occassionally solo on my own and if there wasn't a physical game I was considering also purchasing, I would not mind the cost as much. Or, if there were some more expansions included besides the variants this wouldn't be so bad. However, if you already own the game and you can't get enough and want a solo port to play on your own this is great and I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Captures the spirit of the card game perfectly Posted by

As others have said, this is a faithful recreation of the card game in digital form. While SotM, the card game is one of my favourites, the bookkeeping can be a chore when too many things get on the board. This eliminates almost all of it, boiling the game down to the raw choices you have to make instead. This makes the game a more enjoyable overall. There are two things which stand out as flaws in the app: Card selection for effects is a bit long and redundant at times, like if you have a damaging power and there's only one valid non-hero target it doesn't auto-select that target; and when playing on insula-primalus with an obsidian field in play, with Legacy boosting damage, and Visionary using Twist the Ether on Fanatic, I had to do a lot of choosing of orders for damage increases whenever Fanatic did any form of damage. I'd think straight up damage increases would just be automatic, order shouldn't matter unless it's conditional (like Absolute Zero's Focused Apertures increasing only cold damage). Again, considering the bookkeeping necessary in the actual card game, I can forgive this easily, but it does slow things down. Looking forward to getting Nightmist soon!

A must play for any comic book fan! Posted by

As a long time fan of the tabletop game of the same name, I was really looking forward to this. I am not disappointed in the least. From the start, Chris's hand was definitely involved to keep this true to your tabletop experience. With the computer tracking effects for you, much of the gameplay is even smoother. The dev team managed to cram even more comic book feel into a game that was already overflowing with theme by integrating the panel layout and page turns into the transitions from player to player. This won't replace my desire to bring the original to the table on game nights, but it does mean that I can play it more often. This will be my lunch time companion for some time to come. I plan on purchasing all expansions as soon as they are available and hope that they can integrate an online multiplayer mode. The current format already does an excellent job of supporting pass & play. Thanks to the team at Handelabra and at >Games for bringing one of my favorite tabeltop games to life on Android! Played on first generation Nexus 7

Great Port of a Great Table-Top Game! Posted by

This game took over our local game night for months in card form, now I can get my SotM fix on the go! This is an excellent, uhh, port? Adaptation? Electronic version! Of the game. It makes setting up and keeping track of all the ongoing stuff and card interactions a breeze. Good job! I bought the game with my tablet, but I took the liberty of extracting the APK and putting it on my phone. My tablet is a bit long in the tooth (Acer A500, 1280x800, Tegra 2 T20) and still runs it perfectly, but it also weighs quite a bit and isn't very portable. Luckily the game runs even better and looks nicer on my phone (LG Optimus G Pro, 1920x1080, Snapdragon 600, 5.5 inch screen) though a dedicated phone version with some slightly larger buttons and icons would be appreciated. Also MOAR CARDS! It's hard going back to the original bunch after playing the game with all the expansions. We need ridiculously overpowered Unity and Omnitron-X ASAP!

Great game for any Super Hero fan Posted by

At first glance, the Sentinels look like a ripoff of Marvel and DC heroes, but upon closer inspection, that is not the case at all. Each hero and villain is just as fleshed out and unique as some of the greatest characters of any mainstream comic series. Each hero feels different in their style of play acording to their heroic powers. For example, Tachyon has super speed (think Flash, Quick Silver) therefore she plays through her deck very quickly, often playing and discarding multiple cards per turn. Her attacks even become more powerful the faster she burns through her deck encouraging that style of play. Bunker (Mobile Suit/War Machine) starts slowly by drawing cards and doing little to damage the enemy, but after initializing a series of equipment, he becomes an unstoppable powerhouse! If you enjoy card games and like super heroes thwarting super villains, go get this game. Worth every penny.

SotM on Samsung Galaxy Tab E & Note 4 Posted by

Works fantastic on both of my mobile devices! Have planned it previously via Steam on my PC (still do!) and now I can enjoy it on the go! Traditionally, I'm an avid board game player and especially get into miniatures and other game pieces, but SotM is my first try at a cooperative card game and to my surprise, I actually enjoy playing it! There are plenty of written reviews and posts on gameplay, so I'm not going to repeat what's already been posted. Suffice it to say that, in my case, I am thoroughly satisfied with the translation from physical game to digital and the sheer ease of play! It calculates everything for you so you can concentrate more on strategy. (Note: I'm not necessarily a big fan of strategy anything, but this game has me strategizing without giving it a second thought! I'm impressed!)

Well Worth the Price Posted by

Even if you've never played the physical version with your friends, this is simply one of the best-made digital card games out there. I put it on the same level as Ascension in terms of intuitive interface, polish, and immersion. $10 is, to me, a very reasonable price for the amount of entertainment you can get from the heroes, villains, and environments of the base set (and the expansions, mini-packs, and free variant cards have made the game even better). I actually enjoy Sentinels much more now that I've been able to delve into the character bios, pore over every card, and get a real sense of each hero's strengths and each villain's strategies.

Amazing Adaptation Posted by

Sentinels of the Multiverse is one of my very favorite board games, and seeing it available for download is wonderful. The app plays just like the game does on the table, with the added benefit of not having to keep track of all the added stats and bonuses. Aside from some plays that drag on because you have to manually select the order in which certain actions occur (although there is occasionally an option to have the app do it for you), this is a wonderful recreation of the game it was based off of. I eagerly look forward to every update and expansion that comes out from this amazing series!

Downloading expansions could be better. Posted by

Playing the game's pretty good, and i have no complaints, but when you buy expansion packs, whatever it's doing to download them is slow, and only sort of sometimes works if you're not sitting there watching the loading bar (well, percentage indicator) switch to another app? Edit: Depending on what pack you're downloading (and who knows what else) it may keep downloading, quickly, quite happily, or stall entirely. And that's not just down to what else you're doing. That said, i quite distinctly remember this issue being a lot worse in the past than it was this time. Yay?

Only one issue Posted by

Love the game, but one issue. Being in the navy I dont always have access to a network to be connected. Happened only once since ive bought the game but about 2 weeks into being at sea, the game needed to connect to the internet in order to verify the key, and no longer worked till we pulled back in. This is sad cause I really want to be able to play durring my upcoming deployment. Great game otherwise. Hope the issue can be fixed for those of us who cant always connect.

4/13/16 Update Posted by

UPDATED: Once they pushed the hotfix through everything worked fine! Love this game and highly recomend it to anyone who likes replayable strategy games. The 4/13/2016 update has broke the game for me. After update my Bluestacks emulator will not open the game. I have cleared cashe, unistalled and reinstalled to no avail. Please help. This is a 5* game when it works!

Rivals the Card Game! Posted by

An amazing adaptation of the card game! My rating will go up to five stars if the developer can make dealing damage with Visionary's "Twist the Ether" less tedious. Maybe they can install a rinse/repeat sort of button so I do not have to approve each and every damage modifier from various sources when one of them is "Twist the Ether."

Almost there! Posted by

It slows down a bit when lots of cards are in play and you do get the occasional crash. But otherwise it's a very good game and an exact conversion. Nice to haves would be expansions, more play options (variants/campaigns etc...) and maybe integrate sidekick with this game or just offer a discount to those who want both :-)

Great game, but it needs a storage option Posted by

Love playing the game and I'm having fun with it, but it needs the option to be installed on an micro SD card. I have an nVidia Shield tablet that has 16G of on board storage and a 64G micro SD. I'd love to transfer the rather hefty 2G+ app over to it, but you didn't add the option. Can it be be done and if so, could you?

Great rendition of the tabletop game! Posted by

Amazing rendition of a great tabletop game. Worth much more than ten bucks to support real development and compelling content. Sentinels of the Multiverse is far better than any of "Freemium" game out there.

Posted by

Game wouldn't launch when I first installed it, but I tried again today, and played through the tutorial. I like how it keeps track of all the fiddly details that made the card game a bit overwhelming.

Sweet baby Jesus.... My god. Posted by

Superhero Co op board game for my tablet. God yes. I hope the expansions are being considered. Ok.. Maybe I said it wrong.. Expansions! Now! No not free! I'll pay for them!

Love it so much Posted by

Great adaptation of the physical card game. However, the season pass for android is notoriously expensive compare to the steam version. 4 star

OFFICIAL Phone support Posted by

Runs well on all of my devices and now officially on mysl s6 edge. Was 5 stars now 6 for letting me now use play store to install.

A great adaptation of a great tabletop game Posted by

I love the tabletop game, and this version is a great way to play it when no one else is free

Excellent game. Wonderful app Posted by

The multiplayer freezes a good bit. Needs some work but great game

I love but one problem Posted by

I can't download the expansion packs. The buttons don't respond.

Loved it! Posted by

I love this mobile version of the PC game. Great to play!

Sort of Great by Jared Rascher 2014-10-25

I love the card game, and this is a great recreation of the tabletop experience, using just the core set of cards, with all of the fiddly bits automated. In fact, even though I've played the tabletop game a lot, being in control of all 3-5 heroes gives you a lot better idea of the teamwork synergy in the game. That said, this thing has crashed repeatedly on me. I'm not sure what combination causes problems, because fighting Baron Blade or Voss I didn't encounter a single crash, but against Omnitron and Citizen Dawn, I have crashed repeatedly, and in the Citizen Dawn game, I can't even finish because it keeps crashing at the same point. So, for the combinations of heroes and villains it works for, it works great, but I've been really sad about the Citizen Dawn game that I can't even finish. At least with Omnitron, it crashed at different points and seemed to be able to move on past that point when the game was restarted. This is playing the game on a GT-P7510 tablet.

Great conversation, but slow & buggy by Henry Steele 2014-10-22

Have to say, this conversation from the card game to the app is wonderful. Unfortunately, the execution leaves more to be desired. I get crashes every game with it at the start of a new game or right in the middle of a current game. Also, it's slow. I have to double tap multiple times to sometimes see the card stats. Also, it eats battery life like it was meant to be on a device that is constantly plugged in. I'm sure these things will eventually be addressed, as others have mentioned in their reviews the same observations.

Major mechanics issues by Ànthony Markert 2016-03-24

First of sentinels is a great card game, but this app has major issues. The animations are fun and the lay out is great, but I have yet to play a game where I didn't notice a descrepency in the rules. Powers don't activate when they should build ups just disappear, I am not a programmer but I understand the complexity of a game like this, but I can't give a fractured game a good review, especially one that costs money. Here's to hoping it gets better otherwise it's cash down the drain.

Captures the Game, with some problems by Ken Horner 2014-10-20

For an app that cost this much money, I expected it to be top-notch. It is very good at capturing the whole boardgame into an app. It may even be better than the actual game since the math heavy dmg and hp is all automatically calculated! Even though they did a great job, I wish it was even a bit more fluid to speed up the game time (I'm nitpicking). So why did I rate it 2 stars? Well every time I close and reopen the app, it crashes on me. Every time...

Dev does not reply to emails. by Michael Johnson 2014-11-04

You are asked to vote on a Steam PC version of the game as to if you would like to see it or not, I registered to vote in hopes of removing the main menu spam asking you to do so and was told I could not vote till I bought something from Steam. That will not happen ever, so with no hope of removing main menu spam I requested a refund and it fell on deaf ears as far as the developer goes. So yes 1 star as I (hated) the non removable reminder. Such a pity.

by Clara Woods 2016-01-15

I own the game on both tabletop and PC. I have all available expansions and decks for both mediums. I had bought this for my tablet, hoping to have the same fun I have, but I was sorely disappointed. The game keeps crashing mid-battle. My purchase of the Season 1 Pass won't download and install. I hope I either get a full refund or the problems get fixed.

Season Pass download is an epic fail by Kyle Anderson 2016-02-13

I enjoy the app and love the game. Unfortunately, after being prompted to clear out over 10% of my tablet's total (16 GB) memory in order to install the season pass, and doing so, it still fails to download. That's garbage. 1 star for that averaged with 4 stars for the base app.

Won't download the season pass. How do i get a refund? by Robert Silmser 2016-02-11

Ive tried everything to get the season pass data to download. Ive deleted cache, reinstalled, deleted cache from google play. IF i can get it to download, it hangs on updating the files! How do i get a refund?

Purchases issue by Jason Shiflett 2015-12-16

I bought the season pass for this and when I reinstalled the game, it no longer shows that I have purchased anything. Please fix.

Game stops by Allan Young 2015-02-04

After I rated the game it keeps stopping. I reinstalled it I can't even get though a player turn very unhappy

great game buggy app by Joseph LeDuc 2015-03-28

great game too bad I can't play it on my Acer since it enjoys freezing more than running wasted money
