Awesome App for a dollar! Posted by

Using it on an iPhone4, awesome app definitely does what it says and does it surprisingly well but don't leave it on for any extended periods of time. I set it down on my desk forgetting it was still running and the whole phone is warm to the touch. Calibration is useful for us pro's that have the 18% grey balance cards and typically have someone in a wedding party for example hold it so we can manually white balance our cameras but for an app like this I'm really not sure the reason behind white balancing an app that measures light intensity in a particular spot.

Great app great interface Posted by

This has really been alot of fun working with ..... But why do I have to always have tap the splash card when first opening the app. Can't it just go right to the meter ... It's so annoying!!! it's usefulness has been great and I'm been getting great shots

A Rip-Off of An App by detff3 2010-10-04

I am incredibly fed up with purchasing applications for my iPhone that end up not functioning as they should. And finding that there is no means of obtaining a refund or addressing the issues with malfunctioning applications. Lightmeter Pro is the latest in a long line of applications for iPhone that do not deliver on their promises. Everything that reviews prior to this one have mentioned about the non-functionality of this application is correct. And no one can tell me that the developers of this application didn't know that you have to have to a specific firmware or generation of iPhone in order for the application to function properly. Did they not do the research? Of course they did. They neglected to include information about compatibility issues in order to cash in on those of us who do not have the proper iPhone to make this application properly. No one is stupid here. The developers were either frauds or incompetent. Either way, Apple is equally liable for this latest rip-off of the public because they are responsible for approving applications and should have investigated the legitimacy of this application and verifying the veracity of its claims, which we now know are false. Apple wants to monopolize the application market and assuring that they approve all applications for the iPhone (for a fee, I'm sure) but doesn't want to be responsible for assuring the public isn't ripped off. Why would they want to? They get paid just like the application developers do. iPhone applications: The biggest scam in the world.

Misleading Information and URLs by Media Maestro 2010-09-03

(App installed on iPhone 3G with iOS 4) The app looks nice and runs well. Easy to understand controls and functions. The interface will be very familiar to anyone who uses a light meter with a digital readout. Although the 'beep' that sounds at the activation of controls is a bit annoying (sound on-off switch?). Too bad this app doesn't work. There are two major flaws. First: Apparently this app requires a 3GS iPhone or iPhone 4 (for video function) which is not stated in the requirements. The display in the lower-left corner shows only a blue screen during attempted readings with an iPhone 3G. The readouts for shutter speed and f-stop show only flashing hyphens on an iPhone 3G with no change regardless of mode or brightness of light source. Second: The URL for support brings up a '404 Not Found' page. The same '404 Not Found' page appears with this message "The requested URL /LightMeterPro/ was not found on this server" when the link to the AM PowerSofware website is used. These are issues that need to be answered. Does the app actually work on non-video iPhones? Does the website for AM PowerSoftware actually exist? Hopefully these issues will be addressed forthwith by the developer.

Don't buy it until they fix all problem by OreoMonster 2010-12-17

The idea of this app is good but this app has many serious problem. 1. Reading is not accurate even after calibration…it always show 1/8000 even I was in a very low light indoor environment. 2. Leak of 1/3 ISO, f-stop, shutter 3. Reading is "jumping" like crazy even I focus on a fixed point. It's jumping between -30 and -2000. 4. in the same lighting environment, it reads -30 when I focus on dark color object but reads -2000 when I focus on light color object.

DONT DOWNLOAD THIS IF YOU HAVE A 3G PHONE by michandphoto 2010-09-06

Sadly this app cost me a $1.00 to confirm what I suspected. This is another light meter app that doesn't support the iPhone 3G even though it doesn't state that in the information. I have a 3G phone so this app is useless to me. As the app designer didn't bother to call out this information I will be sending a note to Apple informing them that the description of this application needs to be corrected.

Confusing, inaccurate by hafman42 2014-09-17

Not only does the app not remember a thing so each time you open it you have to set the ISO and mode etc but even when you do these things it's hopelessly inaccurate. The histogram is nice but the ui leaves a lot to be desired. It has a pull up options that shares the same bottom bar with the built in ios control center for example. Useless for actual photography.

Not that good by lanman2 2011-05-08

Just tested this app and unfortunately it's a bad replacement for the real thing. Even after calibrate with gray card the values is nowhere near the real thing. Sorry but I can't recommend this app. Btw. Maybe iPhone is not the right tool anyway, you can't se anything in direct sunlight. But that's not the fault of the app.:-)

Does not give accurate readings by Photostephen 2013-07-07

I just wasted my money on this app. It does not seem to give accurate light meter readings. The built in Help is useless, and even when I change where the phone's camera is pointing, the light meter settings do not change. Be smarter than me and skip this app!

Just bought not working w iOS7 by Albie o 2013-10-27

I just bought this, I am disappointed because the app gives me a black screen leading me to believe it is not compatible with IOS 7. I checked the privacy setting under camera and the app wasn't even avail. I would like my money back.

IPad 2 Issues by Jimmy Jumpup 2011-09-28

This works great on my Iphone 3gs, but it does not work on my new Ipad 2. Just a blue screen where the scene view should be. I would like to see this fixed, as I do use the meter daily. For now, not for Ipad 2.

IPad 2 fail by Evascroll 2011-07-23
