I saw this app on HOMESCREEN.ME. As a connoisseur of weather apps, this wasn’t one I had seen before – so I decided to give it a shot. Dark Sky is my preferred data set for weather, but the native app leaves a lot to be desired. Enter PARTLY SUNNY. This takes the superior data of Dark Sky and wraps it in a clean, concise UI that’s easy on the eyes and pleasing to navigate. It also finds my location FAST! Unlike other apps (looking at you Weather Underground) that takes 10-15 seconds to update my location, Partly Sunny does it almost instantly. A few quibbles. -No notifications. Obviously alerts are the best part of Dark Sky. This app doesn’t have any, so I have to keep Dark Sky around. Not a deal breaker, just disappointment. -External allergy and radar pages – I like the allergy and NOAA pages, but I just wish they were handled natively and not opened within a Safari controller in the app itself. It takes you away from the aesthetic of the app. Surely this data can be pulled in as a feed, and formatted to match the rest of the app? this would be a 5 star app is those two points above are addressed. But even without, it’s a 4 star app that I’ve been recommending to friends and family.

I want to love the simplicity and detail, aesthetics and functionality, but this app's dependence on location services for basic functionality is holding it back. That happens to be my biggest complaint with Dark Sky. This app constantly displays the "location services disabled" prompt as if the user did not disable them. I want privacy AND functionality. Why not allow the app to function with location data from the zip codes users provide? Why not allow the widget to provide data on the last location viewed within the app instead "unable to load"? It defies reason. It would also be nice to have pollen and NWS data presented in the same way that all other data is presented within the app instead of web-based views (ie, in the same format). EDIT: My chief concern regarding the app's use of location services (and several others) has been addressed. This development team has demonstrated a strong commitment the iOS platform. I expect that we can all look forward to continued support for what has become an exceptional app. I only wish more users knew about Partly Sunny.

New Favorite Weather App! Posted by

Partly Sunny is now my favorite weather app! The app design is sleek, easy to use and super intuitive. It features loads of customizable options that I can use depending on what my current needs are. Prior to this I was using another weather app almost exclusively, but after stumbling across Partly Sunny, I have changed my mind! One weekend while my family was visiting, we were supposed to do some outdoor sight seeing. The forecast on my previous weather app called for gloom and rain all weekend. Partly Sunny, however, gave a much more optimistic outlook. So we decided to take our chances and go with what PS forecasted. I’m very grateful we did because what PS predicted was far more accurate and we ended up being able to do everything outside that we wanted to do. Since then, I’ve never gone back to the old app. It seems that other apps show a more generalized “safe” prediction while PS isn’t afraid to report a more detailed and precise forecasts. Well worth the switch!

Simply the best. Posted by

It's the little things that separate Partly Sunny from other weather apps for me: •Long pressing the hourly chart to choose an additional metric when I need it •The easy-to-use location management •The clever additions of pollen information for allergy sufferers and your local NOAA page for the most accurate snow precipitation forecasts • Swiping up or down with two fingers to change from light mode to dark mode •The excellent Today widget that gives you everything you need, one swipe away •The well thought out design language, clean aesthetic, and super-smooth navigation •The well-implemented alerts I could go on, but I'll spare you. Yes, there are plenty of weather apps. I've tried most of them. Partly Sunny does exactly what I want a weather app to do though: it quickly gives me the vital information I need in a clean and precise manner, every time. No more. No less. No fuss. Try it. I really think you'll like it.

My favorite weather app, rain or shine! Posted by

I like my weather Partly Sunny. That is to say with clean design, useful graphs, and happy icons. This app distills a comprehensive amount of information into easy to use and easy to look at screens. So far each update has brought improvements to both the look and functionality of what I already considered a pretty and robust app. My favorite aspects are: ⛅️ Day-by-day graph showing me what the weather will be like in the coming week. ⛅️ Being able to use the "Feels like" temperature everywhere! (Previously I had it in the hour-by-hour graph but now it's all over and even in the widget. Awesome.) ⛅️ Easy to add, edit, and rename locations so I have my home, work, and family's forecasts on one screen. ⛅️ The icons are so darn cute. They make me happy even when the weather is crummy outside. Partly Sunny has earned a permanent place on my home screen and I can't wait to see what comes next.

Great Weather app Posted by

I have used several weather apps over the years and this has become my favorite. I've never been completely pleased with any of them because they were either really lacking, or way too overwhelming. Partly Sunny, offers the perfect blend of what you need in a wheather app, without going overboard and is beautiful to look at. My previous favorite was Dark Sky which works great, but the UI, is a little cumbersome and it's not that nice to look at. With this one, you get the weather information you need, it's very accurate and pleasing to look at. The latest update added a lot of nice features, but the only thing still missing is radar, so hopefully it will be included in the next one. But if you are looking for a good wether app, definetly give this one a try, I think you'll like it.

Best weather app on iOS period. Posted by

What happens when you merge the best (by far) weather tracking app, Dark sky, with a beautiful design? Yep, Partly Sunny :) If Dark Sky had one problem, it was its UI. Partly Sunny pulls the same great Dark Sky data from its open API and beautifully arranges it in a minimal but very detailed UI. I do have one request however, which would put this app beyond perfection: please add the option to default the temperature to show "Feels Like". Unfortunately during winter in the northern US and Canada, the real weather is the one you feel and it would be great to get that right off the bat, especially as its sometimes a big difference. Great work, guys! Really looking forward to the next update!

Nice app. Got it because of reviews and I like Dark Sky. It's always a chance when you pay for an app. But there is only one thing I am very disappointed about - On the list page under temperature, it should also display the 'feel like' temp. It should definitely show on the widget so that I do not have to open the app. I don't want to open the app and tap the city to get to the details page to see the 'feel like' temp. I hope you will add this soon, at least on the widget. Where I live, it's very important for me to know. Outside of that, it's great. No need to do a lot of scrolling to search for information.

Great simple weather app Posted by

This is a capable and readable weather app - it presents the data in a simple manner, however I don't understand why it's missing support for landscape orientation. The app is only portrait mode. That's fine for an iPhone, but on an iPad Pro that I use almost exclusively in landscape orientation, it's kind of annoying. I hope they add support for it soon. Otherwise, I like this app and its widget. It will be 5 stars once they add landscape orientation. Update - they added landscape, I bumped to five stars. Great simple weather app for my iPad Pro. Thanks!

Much better than Dark Sky Posted by

I love this app, especially seen so much information on one screen without having to scroll. Widget has all the info I need. Although the bottom section with the temperature bars doesn't really do it for me. I honestly wish it was horizontal instead of vertical. Or at least the option. Also the option to make the widget dark theme like the app itself. One add would be to include a tiny notification in the widget for weather advisories. They do show up in the top right corner in the app but would be helpful to see in the widget, too.

Favorite Weather App After Update Posted by

Updated Review: Developer listened to feedback from customers and quickly added landscape for the iPad along with a TON of other improvements. Favorite weather app, and I have a LOT, kinda my addiction in the App Store. Previous Review: I like the clean interface and info provided. That said, no landscape mode on the iPad is a deal breaker for me since my iPad sits on my desk in the keyboard case in landscape mode all day as a companion to my work PC. Sure hope that is added in future releases.

Nice App - Apple Watch please! Posted by

This is a gorgeously designed and usable app, gives me great and accurate forecasts. Looking forward to an Apple Watch complication. As of now, I have to use a different app in order to display forecast.io forecasts. Update, Feb 2, 2017. Greatly appreciated updates to make it even more useful. Awaiting an Apple Watch app:complication, and it'll be perfect. Also would appreciate push notifications for weather alerts. Nearly perfect for me!

Beautiful interface but needs radar support Posted by

Great graphics that make it looks natural in iOS 10. Useful information presented in one page. Please add radar support and make the widget preload data to make it a five star app. Every time I check the widget it has to reload delaying the forecast by a second or two. Dark sky keeps the weather data preloaded so that you never see it refresh.

Love it! Posted by

I love this fresh new take on weather app. The design and layout is wonderful! As others have said, just put some focus on the iPad now, such as Landscape Mode. I look forward to continuing to use this app!

Good Posted by

I like the amount of information this displays, and the widget is the best of all the weather apps. If landscape orientation becomes available for iPad, I'd give it 5 stars.

Widget keeps locking up Posted by

Love the app but the widget keeps freezing up. Please fix. Otherwise a fantastic weather app-my new favorite.

Great interface and pretty to look at but please update to look at on landscape for iPad.

Great app Posted by

Far and away the best weather app on iOS.

Nice start, but....... by RL1 2016-12-01

For a version 1 this is a great start, but a few things need to be updated. first, i get the unable to load error message in the widget at least a few times a day, second, the font on the app and espcially the font on the widget is too small, and the color of some of the fonts is too light and is difficult to read, third, it does not have a watch complication. But on a positive note, i do love the layout, and the clean look of the app.

Please provide landscape orientation by dtperk 2017-01-22

I like this weather app a lot, with it's great visual layout and extensive weather info. However, you can only view the app vertically on both the iPhone and iPad. Please allow your users the option of viewing the app horizontally (in landscape orientation) so that I don't have to turn my iPad a different way (compared to all my other apps) every time I open your app. That requirement discourages me from using the app.

No Landscape Mode by nickkincanon 2016-12-26

I mistakenly assumed that when I buy an iPad app, there would automatically be support for landscape mode. Sadly, not in this case. I have a 12.9, so consuming in landscape is the only thing that is comfortable for me. I love the simple and readable format, though. If this app is updated to provide a landscape mode, I'll change my review.

Still a good app by Is this name be taken? 2017-02-06

It's funny that it displays "0%" under raining icon instead of a sunny icon, why not use the icon of weather that has larger percentage that might actually occur? Also I was not able to find a way back to app when I was sent to allergy website other than slide it up and re open it.

Temps for my town are often way off by dtperk 2017-03-25

The app's layout is very nice, but quite often the forecast temps are way off. This morning in my town Oro Valley near Tucson, AZ, the app is calling for a high of 89. No way! The "Weather Bug" app calls for 72, which is accurate. The Weather Bug app is consistently reliable.

Forecasts way off by Kyaecker 2017-02-28

The forecasts this app uses are way off from the standard iOS weather app which I have found to be pretty close to accurate. Often it says it's cloudy when it's sunny, temps vary wildly from reality. I love its design but it's no better than Dark Skies.

Widget not working by Kevin Cray 2017-03-15

Love the look of this app but one thing that drives me crazy is the today widget shows a completely different city and I can't figure out how to change it. I want to see my current weather not what it's like in Florida right now.

Looks great, no landscape support by jjk454ss 2016-12-06

I love this app, the look is great, accuracy is great. I would give it a five star if it supported landscape on the iPad. I don't see any reason it wouldn't, but it doesn't.

Good app, widget broken by Princetongrad 2016-12-06

Has very good visualization compared to dark sky, but widget is clearly far from ready. Constantly shows unable to load and doesn't work again until reboot.

No landscape mode on iPad? Really? Nothing special with this app and plenty of much better options.

For the money all it shows is highs and lows. No radar not worth the money. Ripped off.

Widget is worthless by malnar 2017-02-03

Subject says it all. Nothing it shows is even remotely correct.
