Excellent peek/pop, use of display space Posted by

I purchased the WikiLinks app 5+ years ago and it had been through several iterations of improvement. I especially like the ability to tap videos, Wiktionary, and change the GUI. The addition of the peek/pop (or whatever Apple calls it) feature on iPhone is particularly useful because the Peek window actually HOLDS ITS POSITION, unlike any of the Apple programs, i.e. you can lift your finger from the Peek and the pop up window remains in position and can be viewed and scrolled until it is closed (unlike Apple photos, mail, and Safari that disappear when your finger is lifted.). The WikiLinks GUI simplifies article viewing and visually depicts article linking, adding more depth to Wikipedia on iPhone.

The Best Posted by

This app is currently one of the most useful, interesting, fruitful ways to explore Wikipedia as an avenue for research opportunities. Ideas, people, places, concepts: these are visually displayed, doing much work of an idea-map for the reader and aiding studies. As must be stated, this a tool for better exploring Wikipedia -- Wikipedia is a gateway toward research and evidences - it is not evidence or research in itself. This app makes it far easier for apparently disparate ideas to reveal their connections.

Couldn't be better Posted by

This is by far the best Wikipedia reader on iOS: in-page search, plays all media types, bookmarks synced to iCloud, simultaneous search in multiple languages, i.e. everything you *wish* your iOS browser of choice could do. In addition, there are two delightfully innovative features: an adjustable "brain map"-style display of linked wiki pages, and a button that produces a raft of relevant YouTube videos for each article. Absolutely magnificent.

Awesome Posted by

Lately it doesn't work, when I click links it says "external link open in safari?" It's not making new extensions from the articles anymore. I love this app I hope it comes back! Love this app. Unique and clever. Let's me visualize my curious wanderings and revisit to refresh my memory making what I learn stick. Love being able to customize colors, I like everything about this app.

I love the Peek and Pop Posted by

Tap and hold for peek and pop super is awesome and I'm not even using the iPhone 6S to do it. The feature works super well and better than 3D touch I must say because when you lift your finger it doesn't disappear, and so the window remains open until you tap somewhere else. The graph chart is totally cool too because it's I think it's kinda off fun to play around with.

Better than StumbleUpon Posted by

WikiLinks is a way into Wikipedia, except that it pulls in "similar" and "associated" ideas & facts. I can type in ANYthing I am interested in, and the app presents associated articles. Really fun for fact geeks, and the best "I wonder what....?" Question answerer I've found. Very Good Job! (And, no, I do not have any connection w/ the developer.)

Generates Intuitive GTOC Network Diagrams Posted by

Where GTOC => Graphical Table of Contents for search path between loosely coupled Wikipedia articles with options to redirect. Expands Wikipedia article via network diagram thumbnail images & Interfaces with Chrome or Safari browsers. My iPad screenshots help capture research audit trail via Assistive Touch / Accessibility / General Settings.

Best wikipedia app out there! Posted by

Kudos to the developer for such an intuitive wikipedia app. The peek and pop like implementation is excellent! One humble request is to change the icon design of this app into something more refreshing, like the app itself. I think a sepia or light sepia background of the icon logo would look great. Thanks.

Great idea, great execution Posted by

This app is perfect for my deep dives into Wikipedia. I can retrace my steps to follow up on other links of interest and pick it up on another device. I like the quick-look-type pop up articles so you don't have to leave your main page if you don't want to. Developer is great responding to questions.

Best way to use Wikipedia I've ever come across Posted by

And I've tried several apps. This is just above and beyond the competition. The way you can traverse the topics, the beautifully designed UI ( which could use some fixes, usability - and a few bugs to squash, could make this app a must have on anyone's iOS device ). 5/5

Great Wikipedia App Posted by

This is one of the best. The features I like are the free customization of fonts and themes, and the video links (not available with other wiki apps).

Good as promised Posted by

Found this app quick and useful way to get info that digging in W'pedia sometimes made a little frustrating on iPhone.

Wait for spotlight feature Posted by

Bestest Wikipedia client but waiting for ios 9 feature for spotlight searching for articles in wikilinks.

Awesome Posted by

This app is amazing! I cannot believe I got it free! It is the best ever.

Amazing Posted by

It can play audio files on iPad. Also very nice layout!

Ugh! Settings is useless by W.Wilson777 2017-03-01

Wikilinks basically has three general settings. The history setting (to either enable or disable previous sessions), bookmarks and offline cache size. The other settings are basically cosmetic. What irritates me is that Wikilinks will always restore a previous session every time the app is launched despite history being disabled in settings. When you disable the history setting, it asks if you want to delete all history. In my case, the answer is Yes. So I tap "delete all history" button and close the app. But whenever I launch the app again, the previous session is restored with articles and all. It doesn't matter how many times I set it to "delete all history". The app won't obey. Attempts to contact developer feels futile. I doubt I'll get any response. The bookmarks setting is just basically a delete all option and import/export clipboard. In addition, the app's search query is slow enough that it feels sluggish compared to other wiki apps. For instance, the wikipanion app feels much snappier in comparison. I REGRET THIS PURCHASE.

Not full article by Helielo 2017-02-27

I love the concept and love to see the flow of my Wiki article reads when studying something like battles in WWI, when I can quickly go back to previous articles, preview side articles, etc. However, I have to open the links in safari every time because you can ONLY see a ~2 paragraph summary and that's it. No other part of the article is visible. This is NOT sufficient for any kind of research.

Great app, crappy paid upgrades by Veraxus 2016-01-15

I love this app. It's BY FAR the best Wikipedia app out there... but I've now bought it THREE times! Every year there's a new "version" but no meaningful difference other than bug fixes.

Fix bugs by Firecracker106 2016-03-22

App seems buggy when in use, fix bugs; otherwise it's still a good app to use.
